If you are interested in having psychotherapy ...
I provide psychotherapy for older teenagers and adults, working with individuals, couples and groups. I have over 25 years experience as a psychotherapist.
My approach to psychotherapy centers on helping people to explore and improve their emotional, psychological and physical well-being, and the specific problems that impact on their self-image, relationships and functioning in life.
Among the issues that I work with are anxiety and depression, self-esteem, attachment and relationship issues, sexual identity, emotional regulation and stress. If you would like to check whether I can work with what concerns you, please feel free to phone or text me. You can also contact me through the contact tab on this website.
Psychotherapy appointments are usually of 50 mins duration and are usually weekly, though fortnightly can sometimes be accommodated. I practice in Limerick on Thursdays and Fridays. Regrettably, there are no nighttime or weekend appointments available. In the current COVID-19 situation phone and video sessions are also available.
If you are interested in undertaking supervision with me...
I am an accredited IAHIP supervisor with 20 years experience as a supervisor and trainer. I operate under the IAHIP Code of Ethics for Supervisors.
I provide individual and group supervision to experienced, early-career and trainee psychotherapists and counsellors. I also supervise professionals working in related fields. I have a particular interest in how professionals establish and hold appropriate boundaries in complex organisational systems.
I see supervision as a dynamic, co-created, reflective process that scaffolds, deepens and enriches the therapist's practice. Supervision can be provided on a fortnightly or monthly basis on Thursdays or Fridays (daytime appointments only).
If you are interested in my psychotherapy education activities ...
I am a university lecturer teaching psychotherapy and counselling, the psychology of human development, well-being and related courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
My research interests center around curriculum issues in psychotherapy training, reflective practice as systematic self-inquiry and social engagement as an issue in the psychotherapy profession. I I have held the post of external examiner for a number of psychotherapy courses and have experience of course accreditation and course review processes.
I provide consultancy on psychotherapy issues for organisations. I have served as the IAHIP representative on the management committee of the Irish Council for Psychotherapy. I am currently a member of the Course recognition Committee of IAHIP.
